"PGK Media selects Kamera as one of the broadcast partners for TV2GO
Mobile content specialist Kamera has been selected as one of the broadcast partners for Singapore’s first live Digital Mobile TV trial service TV2GO, which is being launched this summer by network operator PGK Media Pte Ltd (Singapore). PGK Media has teamed up with Zentek Technology (S) Pte Ltd (ZTS), NCS Communications Engineering Pte Ltd, CNBC Asia Pacific, ESPN Star Sports and Kamera, with support from Nokia and Samsung commercial-ready TV phones, to roll out DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast - Handheld) for the first time in Singapore.
Kamera’s dedicated entertainment news channel WOW!TV which has been picked up by over 25 mobile operators worldwide, will be broadcast live on the DVB-H network. TV2GO live channels will range from Sport to News to Music and Entertainment with premium programmes from CNBC Asia Pacific, ESPN Star Sports and Kamera with more to come.
DVB-H is a digital broadcasting technology that allows the viewer to receive and watch their favourite programmes wherever they are on-the-go, using commercially available mobile phones, enabled media players and newly developed USB dongles for laptops and PCs.
DVB-H offers a real time live broadcast service that is always-on and instantly available, as well as an exciting array of interactive options such as real time voting, content purchase, link to micro sites and an advanced Electronic Service Guide.
Chairman and CEO of PGK Media, Mr. Giulio Dorrucci, said: “Mobile content is already part of our daily life and having programmes with us on the move is now very common with the availability of more converged multimedia technologies. Mobile TV is the natural evolution of such trend enabling the transmission of Live and Interactive TV programmes to portable receivers such as hand phones and laptops.”
Henrik Eklund, CEO of Kamera, added, ‘We’re very proud to have been chosen as one of the content providers for TV2GO. South-East Asia is one of the world’s most interesting markets for 360-exploitation of TV rights and TV2GO is a DVB-H project totally in tune with our ambitions.”
PGK Media deployment of the most advanced mobile TV broadcasting infrastructure in Singapore will support full interactive services with the introduction of new TV platforms for the audience to express themselves and exchange with the channels.
