Mobile TV provider Kamera has signed a video content distribution deal with Cellebrum, one of the leading Mobile Content Aggregators in India, which sees Kamera extending its content offering to the world’s fastest growing mobile market.
From mid-March 2006, mobile users in India will be able to access quality content from Kamera, including the celebrity-driven online entertainment channel WOW! TV and extensive sports content from SportCall.
Henrik Eklund, CEO of Kamera said: ‘We are delighted to sign this deal with Cellebrum and delighted to extend our content offering to the growing number of mobile users in India. With the introduction of high-speed networks, such as GPRS, EGDE and 3G, I think we are going to see an increased demand for rich media content in India.’
In January 2006, the number of mobile users in India increased from 80 million to 84.7 million, making it the fastest growing mobile market in the world.
“With increasing popularity of Mobile Videos in India and by providing Kamera’s international entertainment and sports videos, we have enhanced our service offerings to the market. These videos are also quite unique from what’s generally available in the Indian market today,” commented Savinder Sarna, Head of Sales and Marketing at Cellebrum.
“We believe that entertainment and sports videos have got a lot of potential among subscribers in India,’ added Savinder.
Since the launch of WOW! TV, in conjunction with APTN, in April 2005, Kamera’s entertainment service has been picked up by over 15 mobile networks worldwide including operators in Singapore, South Africa and Luxembourg.
